SEOUL, KOREA – Samsung SDS is poised to take on overseas big data markets by joining hands with multinational software and hardware companies. Accordingly, the application of “Smart Manufacturing” to the MESs (Manufacturing Execution System) of overseas manufacturing companies is anticipated to take place as early as early next year.
Samsung SDS said Thursday that it will enter overseas markets including China in partnerships with EMC, Oracle, SAS and Teradata. Samsung SDS has applied its big data solution to manufacturing processes at two parts and materials affiliates of Samsung Group in order to conduct trial runs.
Samsung SDS has recently completed the development of SAF (Smart Analytics Foundation), a Hadoop–based automatic big data processing solution. The SAF offers a high-quality data analysis model and a high-performance analysis environment based on big data technologies.
Samsung’s tie-up with Teradata is making the fastest progress. SAF is likely to be installed in Teradata’s Hadoop-based products, slated for release in the fourth quarter of this year. Samsung also plans to join forces with EMC, Oracle and SAS.

삼성SDS, 글로벌 SW•HW업체와 손잡고 해외 빅데이터 시장 공략
삼성SDS가 다국적 소프트웨어(SW)•하드웨어(HW) 기업과 협력해 해외 제조 빅데이터 시장을 집중 공략한다. 이르면 내년 초 해외 제조 기업을 대상으로 한 `스마트 매뉴팩처링`의 첫 공급사례가 나올 전망이다.
삼성SDS는 테라데이타•EMC•오라클•SAS 등과 빅데이터 분석 관련 전략적 협업을 체결, 중국 등 해외시장에 진출할 계획이라고 11일 밝혔다. 국내에서는 삼성그룹 계열 부품소재 기업 2개사를 대상으로 제조공정에 적용, 시범 테스트를 진행하고 있다.
삼성SDS는 최근 하둡 기반으로 빅데이터 분석 처리를 자동으로 할 수 있는 스마트애널리틱스파운데이션(SAF) 솔루션 개발을 완료했다. 이 솔루션은 검증된 고급 데이터 분석 모델과 빅데이터 기술 기반 고성능 분석 환경을 제공한다. 업무 특성별 맞춤형 분석 플랫폼 적용도 가능하다.
다국적 기업과의 협력은 테라데이타가 가장 적극적이다. 4분기 출시 예정인 테라데이타의 하둡 기술 기반 제품군에 SAF를 탑재하는 방안을 추진한다. EMC•오라클•SAS와도 협력을 추진할 계획이다. 삼성SDS 관계자는 “글로벌 업체와 협력을 체결, 해외 공동 마케팅과 영업을 논의할 계획”이라며 “때에 따라 각각의 제품을 묶어 통합으로 제안하는 방안도 추진될 수 있을 것”이라고 설명했다.
삼성SDS가 적용하려는 분야는 반도체•디스플레이•부품•자동차•철강 등 다양한 산업의 제조공정의 생산관리시스템(MES) 영역이다. 공정과정에서 발생하는 센서데이터 대상으로 빅데이터 분석을 실시하는 것이다. 이로써 제조공정에서 불량률을 줄이고 효율성을 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
향후 다국적 기업과 협력으로 해외 진출이 이뤄지면, 삼성SDS의 스마트 매뉴팩처링 사업도 본궤도에 오른다. 삼성SDS는 이달 초 금융•공공 대외사업 중단에 따른 관련 인력 조정을 위한 조직개편을 실시, 스마트 매뉴팩처링&타운(SMT) 조직을 신설했다. 제조기업의 MES•공급망관리(SCM)•전사자원관리(ERP) 등 스마트 매뉴팩처링 사업은 중국을, 병원IT•대학IT•u시티 등 스마트 타운 사업은 중동지역을 중점 타깃으로 한다.
