SEOUL, KOREA - Social enterprise Songdo SE has opened its second coffee shop "Cafe O Asia" on July 16 at the Songdo International Business District's G-Tower, the 33-story building in which the Green Climate Fund main office will move.
This is a second location for the non-profit coffee store following the first one in the POSCO Engineering & Construction headquarters, also in Songdo, last month.
Cafe O Asia has been organized to assist foreign women who have come to Korea through marriage by providing jobs and business opportunities. Cafe O Asia's G-Tower location hires a woman from Kazakhstan as well as a Korean barista. The profit of the cafe will go to families of international marriage residing in the Incheon area.
Songdo SE is engaged in business doing janitorial and other maintenance work for building in the Songdo International Business District. Of the 130 employees, 90 percent are from underprivileged backgrounds, including 40 North Korean defectors.
