Seouk, Korea - According to the trade on the 17th, Korean makers of open-source based 3D printers are approaching general consumers in many directions, including product demonstrations.
The Korean-made, open-source based 3D printers had been available in the market, but since most of them came in knocked-down kits requiring the users to assemble the printer by themselves, it was difficult for the general consumers to use the printers unless they knew what they were doing.
As the attention to 3D printing grew recently and growing number of 3D printers are imported into Korea, the domestic makers who persisted on selling the 3D printers in disassembled parts started to offer assembled ready-to-print products.
Eiffel, a 3D printer by 3dpmart manufactures its output by staking layers of ABS resin and comes in two models with 990,000 Won and 1.2 million Won price tags.
Rocket launched the first fully-assembled open-source based 3D printer, Edison, and the company was able to set up the distribution channel faster than the others. Rocket held an open-demonstration of its 3D printer at Hyundai Department Store Shincheon last weekend and attracted interests of general public.
Open Creator, the assembler and distributor of NP Mendel, has announced that the company is preparing its fully-assembled 3D printer for distribution.
국산 3D프린터 100만원 이하 완제품도 등장, 대중 속으로
오픈소스 기반의 100만원 전후 국산 3D프린터가 속속 등장하면서 저가 보급형 3D프린팅 시장이 확산되고 있다. 특허가 만료된 오픈소스 기반의 저가 제품은 주로 개인사무실 등이 수요처로, 국내 3D 프린터산업 활성화의 징검다리 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다. 현재 국내 3D프린팅 시장은 제조 대기업의 설계디자인용으로 고가 시장을 형성하고 있다.
17일 관련 업계에 따르면 오픈소스 기반의 국내 3D프린터 업체들이 완제품 판매 및 일반 시민 대상 시연회로 3D프린팅 보급 첨병으로 나섰다.
그동안 오픈소스 기반의 국산 3D프린터가 없었던 것은 아니지만 대부분이 사용자가 부품을 직접 조립해 완성해야만 했다. 이로 인해 지식이나 경험을 갖춘 전문가나 마니아만 이용할 수 있는 것이 현실이었다.
최근 대중의 관심이 높아지고 저가 외산 3D프린터 제품들의 국내 유입이 본격화되면서 기존 조립 형태 판매를 고집하는 곳들도 완제품 판매를 고려하기 시작했다.
3dpmart(대표 홍순걸)의 3D프린터 `에펠`은 ABS 수지를 이용해 쌓아올리는 방식으로 출력물을 완성하며, 가격대는 99만원과 120만원 두 가지 모델이다. 업체는 그동안 `DIY` 형식으로 일반인이 구매해 조립해 완성하기는 어렵다는 점에 착안, 완제품 형태로 선보였다. 또 1년간 무상보증을 실시해 주요 부품 교체형식으로 AS를 제공하겠다는 방침이다.
홍순걸 대표는 “저가형 3D프린터는 제품을 구매해도 제대로 된 AS를 받을 수 없어 이에 따른 불만이 크고, 쓰지도 못하고 방치하는 일이 많다”며 “향후에도 대중이 관심이 많은 출력물 제작 세미나 등을 진행해 3D프린터를 더욱 유용하게 널리 쓸 수 있는 방안을 모색할 것”이라고 말했다.
오픈소스 기반의 3D프린터 `에디슨`을 완제품으로 처음 선보였던 로킷은 유통망을 확대해 발 빠르게 제품을 보급하고 있다. 로킷은 지난 주말 신촌 현대백화점에서 3D프린팅과 스캐너 시연회를 열어 소비자의 주목을 끄는 데 성공했다.
오아람 로킷 매니저는 “현장에서 시민들의 요청을 받아 자신들이 원하는 그림이나 문자를 새긴 휴대폰케이스를 제작해주는 서비스를 선보여 큰 호응을 얻었다”며 “앞서 행사를 치렀던 롯데백화점 및 현대백화점 측과 전국적 야외 순회 행사 개최도 논의하고 있다”고 전했다.
이 밖에도 `NP멘델`을 조립 판매하는 오픈크리에이터 측도 완제품 형태 판매를 준비하고 있다고 밝혔다.
