SEOUL, KOREA- Renault Samsung announced on July 17 that it has resumed overtime work at its Busan plant that has been halted since January 2013 due to the global economic slump and a contraction of the domestic market.

The current two-shift work scheme (eight hours in daytime and eight hours at night) will be changed to a modified two-shift work schedule (eight + 1 hours in daytime and eight + 1 hours at night).

A Renault Samsung official said, “This decision came in tandem with the successful launching of the SM5 TCE, the need to secure more QM5’s for exports, and the increase in sales of the SM3 and QM5 in the domestic market.”

By changing the work schedule, Renault Samsung expects to increase average daily output by 80 units.
