SEOUL, KOREA- Some of the GM Alpheon (Buick LaCrosse) hybrid cars will be recalled for defects in their recharging device.The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transportation said on July 18 that the GM Alpheon 2.4 e-Assist produced in the company's Bupyeong plant was found to have mechanical flaws. According to the ministry, the cars lost ignition while driving possibly due to battery recharging problems.
A GM Korea official said, "As the Alpheon has not been sold in large numbers, your car may not be part of the recall if it is a latest model." The total number of Alpheon cars to be recalled is 1,213.
Those cars manufactured between August 21, 2011 and February 13, 2013 will be covered by the recall. The owners of the eligible cars can get free-of-charge replacement of generator controller at any GM Korea service center from July 19.
