
SEOUL, KOREA- Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics both released curved OLED TVs in the United States. This is the first time for the two companies to release OLED TVs in overseas markets. Backed by advanced OLED technology, the two companies formulated a strategy aimed at fostering OLED TVs as their next-generation cash cow.
LG Electronics held a special promotional event on July 22 at a Best Buy store in Minneapolis, Minnesota to celebrate the release of the 55-inch curved OLED TV. The retail price of the curved OLED TV is set at $14,999, similar to the retail price in Korea that is set at 15 million won.
Samsung Electronics will kick-start the sales of its own curved OLED TVs from this week in the U.S. It plans to sell its 55-inch curved OLED TVs at premium brand stores, including ValueElectronics New York. The retail price of Samsung's curved OLED TVs is the same as the one for LG models.
