SEOUL, KOREA – LG Electronics has joined hands with British Sky Broadcasting, a British satellite broadcasting, broadband and telephone services company headquartered in London, in a bid to take on the European smart TV market.
British Sky Broadcasting has domestic broadcast rights to English Premier League (EPL) under its belt and the number of its subscribers amounts to 10 million. LG Electronics’ partnership with British Sky Broadcasting will allow LG to exclusively offer British Sky Broadcasting’s massive amounts of contents for one year. This service will kick off on LG smart TV just in time for the opening of the 2013–14 Premier League, slated for August.

스카이 방송은 `잉글랜드 프리미어 리그(EPL)`의 영국 내 중계권을 갖고 있으며 가입자가 1000만명에 달하는 위성방송사업자다. LG전자는 이번 제휴로 스카이 방송이 보유한 방대한 양의 콘텐츠를 1년간 독점 제공한다. 오는 8월 `2013~2014년 영국 프리미어리그` 개막에 맞춰 LG 스마트TV에서 개시한다.
