SEOUL, KOREA- The U.S. International Trade Commission said on August 1 that it would postpone a decision on whether some of the mobile phone and tablet models made by Samsung Electronics have infringed on Apple Inc.'s patents. Earlier the ITC had been supposed to decide on the matter today.
An ITC official said, "We need more time to deliberate on the infringement issue of four Apple patents by Samsung." In October last year, the U.S. federal agency had made a preliminary ruling that some of the Samsung products violated Apple's patents. If the ITC rules that any one of the patents has been infringed upon, the product in question is banned for importation to the U.S. market after the U.S. President's final approval.

The models under investigation include the Galaxy S, Galaxy S2, Nexus, and Galaxy Tab, all of which are obsolete models. Even if the decision is upheld, it is expected, the impact on Samsung would be minimal.
