Nexon Sees Sales Up 60% in 2Q

SEOUL, KOREA- Global online game company Nexon Japan announced its results for the second quarter of this year.It posted sales of 36.6 billion yen (US$380.5 million) for the second quarter of this year, up 60 percent year on year, with its operating profit estimated at 13.4 billion yen, up 21 percent from a year ago. Net profit also jumped by 54 percent to 11.4 billion yen.

The main drivers behind the robust performance include a steady growth in sales in Asian markets, including China, Korea, and Japan. In particular, its sales in China marked a 44-percent growth to 15.4 billion yen.

Dungeon and Fighter, which earned huge popularity in China, made a great contribution to the hike in sales in China thanks to its latest updates. In Korea, its sales rose by 38 percent to 8.6 billion yen, driven by FIFA Online 3 and FPS "Sudden Attack." In Japan, its sales amounted to 93.9 billion yen, up 233 percent from the same period last year, thanks to its acquisition of a mobile game company Gloops.
