SEOUL, KOREA- Korea's pharmaceutical company Green Cross Corp. said on August 13 that it won a contract to supply US$12.5-million flu vaccines to the Pan American Health Organization, part of the United Nations system under the umbrella of the World Health Organization.Earlier in December last year, the company had landed a similar deal worth $12 million to supply vaccines for seasonal flu prevalent in the Southern Hemisphere. Seasonal flu vaccines for the Northern and Southern hemispheres can be supplied all year around as the two hemispheres have winter months in different times.
Green Cross is the world's second vaccine producer after Sanofi-Pasteur to win the WHO prequalification approval for both single- and multi-dose influenza vaccines. The company won the approval from the WHO for its multi-dose flu vaccine in November last year. It had already met the WHO prequalification for its single-dose vaccine.
