SEOUL, KOREA- Ssangyong Motor said on August 14 that it has introduced manual transmissions in all of its sports utility vehicle models currently available in Korea. The company said on the same day it launched the Rexton W "Mania," the manual transmission edition of its popular SUV Rexton W model. With this, Ssangyong Motor has a full SUV lineup of stick-shift models including the Korando C, Korando Sports, Korando Turismo, and Rexton W.
A Ssangyong official said, "During the first half of the year, the share of Korando C manual models was about 15 percent. For all other SUV models, the share is at least 10 percent."
Manual transmissions can help motorists save fuel cost by about 10 percent in comparison with auto transmission models. For example, the Rexton W Mania has a mileage of 12.9 kilometers per liter, 10.3 percent more efficient than its automatic-transmission brethren. In addition, the Rexton W Mania boasts state-of-the-art safety features such as the electronic stability control system and tire pressure monitoring system, as well as 18-inch wheels and Bridgestone tires. The suggested retail price of the Rexton W Mania starts from 30.52 million won.
