Major Business Groups to Hire 40,000 in 2H

SEOUL, KOREA- Major conglomerates will hire record numbers of new employees in the latter half. Big companies such as Samsung, Hyundai, Kia, SK, LG, and POSCO have announced their second-half hiring plans totaling 40,000 in college and high school graduates. Companies like POSCO, Hyundai, Kia, and GS have increased the employment number from the previous year while Samsung, LG, Lotte, and SK have plans almost at the same level as last year's. Most other large corporations will follow suit in October and November.

 
On September 1, LG Group will be the first business group to begin an annual hiring. Its building and decorative materials unit LG Hausys will take applications from the 1st, followed by LG Electronics, LG Display, LG U+, LG Chem, and LG CNS. In all, the group will hire 7,000 for the second half including 2,500 each for those applicants with college degrees and high school diplomas.
 
POSCO Group will also set out to employ 4,200 new graduates in September, including 2,160 and 2,000 college and high school graduates. Of the college graduate applicants, the group will increase the share of women applicants up to 30 percent.
 
Samsung Group will begin its hiring process at the end of September. Although it has not decided on the details of the plan, the approximately level will remain almost at the same level as last year's. The total number of new hires for the second half that the group will enlist will be 26,100, including 9,100 high school graduates, 9,000 college graduates, 3,000 vocational school graduates, and 5,000 with years of experience.
