Competition Heats up in SUV Market

SEOUL, KOREA- Competition is getting fiercer among Korea's carmakers to gain a larger share in the SUV market. Major carmakers released a string of facelift models, aimed at attracting more attention from consumers.Ssangyong Motor, for example, released the New Korando C this month, its first facelift model in two years. With more splendid design, the New Korando C features an improvement in noise- and vibration-proof functions, plus an increase in fuel efficiency.

The Korando C is one of the models that are selling more as time goes on. In the initial days, its sales remained low due to the company's unstable financial situation. However, as the company improved the quality of after-sales services, the sales of the Korando C entered a phase of stable growth, with its monthly sales volume rising to 1,400-1,500 units from 1,000.
Ssangyong Motor is not alone. Kia Motors also kick-started official sales of its facelift model

New Sportage R from last month. The New Sportage R features an upgrade in various convenience features, although its price remained the same as that of its original model. Adding more feel of elegance to the New Sportage R, Kia Motors appointed chrome line for bumpers and grills, and LED rear combination lamps.
