The Chance to make a Movie with a World-Class Film production Crew

SEOUL, KOREA– The city of Seoul government, South Korea, announced today the launching of its global movie project, Seoul, Our Movie / 우리의영화, 서울 with PARKing CHANce, a filmmaking duo of Director Park Chan-wook who recently had his Hollywood debut, STOKER, and his brother Park Chan-kyong who’s also a prominent media artist in Korea.

Seoul, Our Movie / 우리의영화, 서울is a borderless film production project, which is a part of Seoul’s global brand marketing effort that aims to explore diverse experiences and feelings that Seoul features by globally gathering various videos about Seoul. This ambitious initiative by the city of Seoul government initiated people around the world to upload less than 5-minute videos. Participants will be given three themes, “Working in Seoul, Made in Seoul, and Seoul,” where they are allowed to create any type of video or photo slide that conveys one of these proposed themes. By choosing one of the three themes, participants can portray any aspect of Seoul, both tangible and intangible. For example, if you choose “Working in Seoul,” you may show a typical life of a businessman who goes through a day of fun and troubles as he gets on the packed subway, writes reports for his clients and meets his friends for a drink after work. For “Made in Seoul,” you can make use of your made-in Korea cell phone and how it entertains your life. And for the last one, “Seoul,” you are free to show any experience or feeling about Seoul.

Here’s a simple instruction on how to participate in this project: visit and subscribe to Seoul, Our Movie / 우리의영화, 서울” YouTube channel www.youtube.com/seoulourmovie, then, choose one of the three themes and create a video on the selected theme. Lastly, upload your video on the custom channel by using your own YouTube account. This contest will run for 12 weeks from August 20th, 2013 to November 9th, 2013. After the contest, PARKing CHANce will select appropriate clips that will constitute the entire movie and add some artistic flavor and professional touch to the clips. And it will later be compiled and edited by PARKing CHANce to be made into one movie.

Furthermore, you can play a greater role in making the movie by watching videos on the YouTube custom channel uploaded by different people and help your favorite clips to have a higher chance of winning by increasing the number of views and likes. In addition to the quantitative measures, PARKing CHANce will look at creativity and originality of expressions on different kinds of experiences and feelings people may have about Seoul. After all these quantitative and qualitative aspects are closely examined, the best clips will be selected by PARKing CHANce and the chosen participants will win any one of the prizes such as plane tickets for Seoul and preview show, automobiles, and laptops etc.

Director Park Chan-wook said with excitement and high expectation, “I am extremely curious to find out how the final product will play out as this is a unique combination of amateur clips and editing by film professionals.” Park Chan-kyong added, “I want to show Seoul’s intrinsic and natural appearance that no one knew about through the film”.

A Director General of Tourism Policy Bureau from the city of Seoul government, Mr. Seo, Jeong Hyup, said, “We are happy to work on this Seoul, Our Movie project with PARKing CHANce. It’s especially meaningful because the movie will be made by participation from the global citizens and we hope that this project lays a foundation for Seoul to become a global city that is more loved by the world.”
