SEOUL, KOREA- Samsung Electronics released Korea’s first folder-type smartphone targeting the middle-aged population. The company announced on August 21 that it will release a clamshell-shaped smartphone model “Galaxy Golden” through SK Telecom and KT. The Galaxy Golden is mounted with a dual-touch display and a keypad.

The Galaxy Golden is appointed with a 93.3-mm Super-AMOLED display both in and outside its main body. The Galaxy Golden, accordingly, can be used as a smartphone when the folder is closed and as a general mobile phone when it is open.

In particular, when the clamshell is open, it allows users to type through a keypad, in the same manner as you do to send text messages, emails, and memos through regular mobile phone.

Being mounted with an oscillator receiver, the Galaxy Golden has a speaker hole-less design, enabling users to make calls without opening the folder. The Galaxy Golden features an Android 4.2 OS, a 1.7-GHz dual-core AP, an 8-megapixel camera, and an FM radio function.
