SEOUL, KOREA - Korean Prime Minister Jung Hong-won said on August 26 in meetings with the Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Prime Minister Khalifa ibn Salman Al Khalifa, "I hope the Bahraini government could lend support to Korean contractors to win more government-commissioned projects."
For the first leg of the trip to the Middle Eastern four nations, the Prime Minister visited Bahrain on the 26th. He met in the morning of the day the Bahraini Prime Minister to discuss wide-ranging topics from trade, financial services, and construction for possible bilateral cooperation.
The prime ministers of the two countries agreed, among others, to hold a biennial meeting between officials of ministry of commerce and industry. In addition, they signed an agreement to exchange trainees between state-run human resources development service centers of Korea and Bahrain.
In the afternoon of the same day, Mr. Jung paid a courtesy visit to the King in the Shakir Palace of Manama. He discussed with the King topics such as the political situations in Northeast Asia and the Middle East, including the process to build confidence on the Korean Peninsula.
