SEOUL, KOREA- The "County," the minibus Hyundai Motor produces in China jointly with Sichuan Nanjun Auto, will make a debut in China. Hyundai Motor said on August 30 that the County will be unveiled for the first time in China at the International Motor Show to be held in Chengdu from the 30th. Sichuan-Hyundai, the joint venture established by the two companies, aims to become a major commercial vehicle manufacturer in China with 170,000 sales in 2017 from the current 20,000.
The County, primarily available as city and tourist buses, has been redesigned to fit local needs, including a gold-color variety and a limousine model complete with luxury seat upholstery, a table, and an LCD monitor.
In addition, the company launched a large truck model "Trago Xcient" and mid-size truck "Mighty." It plans to make available these truck models from next year. Choi Han-young, Hyundai Motor's vice chairman responsible for commercial vehicles, said, "Beginning with the County, we will step up our effort to take on the Chinese market and become a global top-five commercial vehicle manufacturer within a few years."
