
SEOUL, KOREA- LG Electronics is ready to expand its presence in the global smartphone market with the strategic model G2. Starting from the United States and Germany, LG will release the G2 in other major markets, including Latin America and Asia. With the G2, the company plans to solidify its No. 3 position in the global smartphone market.
LG Electronics will hold a G2 launching event in Germany on September 4. It will also launch a G2 marketing event at IFA 2013 that is scheduled to begin from the 6th in Berlin, Germany.
The company plans to sell the G2 to as many as 130 telecom companies worldwide, the largest among its smartphones. Even in the U.S. market, LG Electronics secured four major telecom companies as its sales outlets.
LG Electronics, which ranked No. 6 in the global smartphone market as of late 2012, jumped to a No. 3 spot in the first quarter of this year, standing right behind Samsung Electronics and Apple. The company is now driving forward with plans to strengthen the No. 3 position by widening the gap from the No. 4 player.
