SEOUL, KOREA- SK Hynix's Wuxi semiconductor plant in China resumed partial operation in three days after it halted C2 line operations due to fire. The company announced on September 8 that it completed safety checkup for one of the production lines at the Wuxi factory that was safe from fire damages, and resumed its operation from the morning of September 7.A Company official said, "We resumed works at about 50 percent of the factory's total production lines. We're also engaged in facility checkups and rebuilding other lines that were hit by fires, under close cooperation with local authorities."
The company has halted production at its Wuxi plant on September 4 after a fire erupted during the installation of equipment at production lines. The Wuxi plant, which begun operations in 2006, has been engaged in the production of DRAMs for personal computers and servers, with its production volume accounting for about 15 percent of the world's total DRAM production.
