This is the second such competition hosted by Samsung this year, and is divided into two categories: ‘Smart Note Apps’ and ‘Smart Tablet Apps.’ A total of $1.1 million in prize money will be awarded to 12 winning entries.
In addition to receiving a cash prize, the final winners will be evaluated by Samsung Venture Investment as investment candidates. If selected, successful candidates will have the opportunity to promote their apps using a variety of global channels run by Samsung, such as developer conferences or international events like MWC 2014.

Samsung Mobile SDK(Software Development Kit) , a combination of individual SDKs that provide a more integrated development environment for developers, is composed of 10 independent packages including ‘Pen’ and ‘Look’. Contestants are required to use the ‘Pen’ or ‘Look’ package when developing their applications. The ‘Pen package’ offers specialized API for S Pen applications, and the ‘Look package’ provides UI and extra features using S Pen. With Samsung Mobile SDK’s respective features, developers can develop new applications based on the various features and services of Samsung devices. Developers wanting to enter the competition should go to www.smartappchallenge.com for registration from September 5 to November 30. Besides Smart App Challenge, Samsung will also provide on- and off-line support to developers.
