SEOUL, KOREA- Orion is savoring a robust growth in the Vietnamese confectionery market. Within such a short period of six years after launching, Orion became the No. 1 confectionery company there, with its sales marking a three-fold jump.

Orion’s Vietnamese unit announced on September 11 that it achieved sales of more than 80 billion won in the first half of this year and expects to record 200 billion won sales this year.
Given that Vietnam’s confectionery market size is estimated at 800 billion won, Orion would achieve a market share of about 25 percent if it succeeds in achieving annual sales of up to 200 billion won.

Orion launched into the market in late 2006. It built a factory in Ho Chi Minh City in December 2006 and has engaged in the production of confectionery items such as Choco Pie, Fresh Pie, and Toonies. As its sales there rose to 56.2 billion won in 2008, Orion decided to make additional investments and set up a new plant in Hanoi in September 2009. Thereafter, its sales rose to 102.8 billion won in 2010.
