Wednesday, September 25th, 2013
SEOUL, KOREA- The government announced on September 24 a first-round list of 46 candidate companies that it will nurture as national champion exporters capable of reaching the US$100-million level. By 2017, the government will select and foster a total of 400 such firms. The selected companies will receive a variety of support measures including market leads, as well as technical, marketing, and financial support.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy said this on the same day at a meeting of ministers for economic affairs while reporting strategies to cultivate globally competitive firms. The 46 candidate firms included Bluebird, an industrial-purpose mobile computer maker, CrucialTech, a smartphone optical mouse manufacturer, and I-Sens, a blood glucose monitoring system developer.

For these firms to get timely consulting and other helps in market intelligence and intellectual property right information, the ministry will establish a strategic platform center within the Association of High Potential Enterprises of Korea. At the center, a team of consultants with experience in overseas law firms, investment banks, and consulting companies will be ready to offer services to companies.
