Industrial Technology Week 2013 has began with ‘Korea Technology Awards’

Various events such as the Technology Exchange Conference, Tech-plus, and Tech-playpark will be held during the week.

ILSAN, GYEONGGI- About six hundred people including figures from the Industrial Technology field, the winners, and their families attended the Korea Technology Awards 2013 hosted by Yoon Sang-jick, the minister of Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy on November 12th at Ilsan KINTEX.

This award show, the opening event for Industrial Technology Week, focused on ‘Creation, the DNA of Korea Industrial Technology.’ Awards given to institutions included a prize for top technology, 10-new technologies, and rewarded persons of merit.

The Korea Technology Awards, the highest authority in the industrial technology field, combined with ‘Energy Green Awards’ for the energy technology field this year and increased its reputation in the industry.

The best prize (the President’s Award), three gold prizes (the Prime Minister’s Awards) and others were presented for 34 superior technologies which has brought honor to Korea, and certificates of new technology were awarded to different recipients for the 10 best technologies in their class.

Also, the highest honor’s medals (2), emblems (3), presidential commendations (4), and others prizes were awarded to 54 persons of merit who have contributed to boosting industrial competitiveness and the national industrial development through development and promotion of industrial technology, commercialization of technologies, management of technology, etc.

‘10mm 128Gb 3D NAND Flash’ from Samsung Electronics Co. was selected for The President’s award. Samsung Electronics Co. developed the world’s first V NAND which has a three-dimensional cell structure and a vertical layer structure. It was highly praised in terms of overcoming limits for the refinement of memory, contributing potentially to the market for high value & performance SSD (Solid State Drive), and to the marketing of flash memory.

‘Super High Efficiency & Echo-friendly Condensing Water Heaters NPE’ from Kyung Dong Navien Co., Ltd., ‘Barrier Adhesive Film Technology for OLED TV Sealings’ from LG Chem. Ltd., and ‘System Development of Korea Utility Helicopters(KUH)’ of Korea Aerospace Industries, Ltd. were all selected for the Prime Minister’s Awards.

Meanwhile, certificates from the Minister of Trade, Industry & Energy were awarded to the first and best in class for 10 technologies including n-type of high-powered PV Module and mass production technology for hydrogen fuel vehicles. These 10-new technologies include promising industrial technologies developed by small, medium-sized, and venture enterprises, including mutant detection technology for customized cancer treatments. The growth potential and the latent power of Korean industrial technology is clearly evident.

In industrial technology rewards for persons of merit sector, Lee Soo-tae, the CEO of Pan-Asia Inc. was awarded the highest honor, the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit. As an expert, Mr. Lee, who has dedicated himself to the field of shipbuilding for the past 32 years, received credit for his contribution to industrial development through the localization of shipbuilding parts.

The Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit was awarded to Park Jun-taek, the vice president of Halla Visteon Climate Control Corp. and the Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit went to Jo Jeon-jin, the CEO of Advanced Wave Corp.

Also, other prizes were awarded to 16 persons of merit who have contributed to the commercialization of excellent technologies and 4 mid-sized and small companies who have achieved outstanding results in the systematization of technology management.

Industrial Technology Week will play host to more than 10 various events, including a Tech-plus forum, to increase public awareness and to expand the bases of industrial technology.

A photo & webtoon exhibition of R&D results and industrial technology was held at KINTEX on the 12th, a technology exchange conference and a competitive exhibition on the 13th, a tech-plus forum which discussed new issues on industrial technology on the 13th and several programs for teenagers will be on the 15 and 16th.
