SEOUL, KOREA – IT service firm LG CNS has posted KRW 3.25 trillion in 2012 sales (up 1.8% from 2011) and KRW 137.2 billion in 2012 operating profit (up 13% from 2011).
At the general share holders’ meeting held on Thursday, LG CNS announced its 2012 earnings results based on K-IFRS. In 2011, LG CNS notched up KRW 3.19 trillion in sales and KRW 121.4 billion in operating profit.
LG CNS has grown 20% in non-SI (system integration) and overseas projects such as smart green solutions. As a matter of fact, it last year won a KRW 60 billion solar power project from Bulgaria and a KRW 140 billion MRT project from Malaysia. The IT arm of LG Group has opened accounts with a lot of new overseas partners and corporate customers.
Still, economic slowdowns and investment in new ventures for future growth, its 2012 sales stopped short of growing sharply. Besides, LG CNS’s public informatization business has suffered a setback following the amendments to the Software Industry Promotion Act.

LG CNS, 2012년 매출 3조2496억원…소폭 상승 그쳐
LG CNS가 지난해 매출 3조2496억원, 영업이익 1372억원을 기록했다. 지난 2011년 대비 매출액은 1.8%, 영업이익은 13% 증가한 규모다.
LG CNS는 21일 주주총회를 개최하고 한국형국제회계기준(K-IFRS)을 반영한 2012년 연결기준 실적을 이 같이 밝혔다. 2011년에는 매출액 3조1912억원, 영업이익 1214억원이었다.
LG CNS는 스마트그린솔루션 등 비 시스템통합(SI)과 해외사업에서 20% 성장을 이뤘다. 실제 지난해 600억원 규모의 불가리아 태양광 구축 사업과 1400억원 규모의 말레이시아 도시철도통신(MRT)사업을 수주했다. LG CNS는 해외사업에서 경쟁시장 사업 비중이 50%를 넘어섰다. 해외 신규파트너와 고객사도 다수 확보했다.
반면 경기침체와 성장산업 육성을 위한 투자로 매출은 소폭 상승에 그쳤다. SW산업진흥법에 따라 참여 사업이 40억원에서 80억원으로 상향 조정되는 등 공공정보화 사업 축소도 배경이다.
LG CNS는 올해를 중장기적 관점의 시장선도를 위한 `한계 돌파`의 원년으로 삼는다. 이를 위해 해외사업과 성장사업, 솔루션 확보 3대 과제를 더욱 철저하게 수행할 계획이다. 기반 사업의 품질과 생산성을 혁신하고 우수 인재와 핵심역량 확보에 주력할 방침이다.
