Samsung Tablet Breaks 20% Mark in Global Market Share

SEOUL, KOREA - Samsung Electronics passed the 20-percent market share in the global tablet computer market in the third quarter of this year. This was the first time for Samsung Electronics to achieve the milestone.

According to the analysis of global tablet computer sales and market share for the third quarter of this year, conducted by U.S. market research firm Strategy Analytics, Samsung Electronics surpassed the 10-million level in tablet computer sales worldwide, first in its history, with its third quarter sales estimated at 10.5 million units.

Samsung Electronics’ annual tablet computer sales stood at 16.6 million units in 2012.In the second quarter of this year, Samsung Electronics sold 8.4 million un its.For the January-September period of this year, the company sold 28 million tablets, far exceeding last year’s total.

Its third-quarter market share also reached 20.2 percent in the global tablet computer market. In other words, one out of five tablets sold throughout the world during this period was made by Samsung Electronics.
