SEOUL,KOREA – CJ E&M's game portal Netmarble has invested KRW 16 billion in acquiring a 50% stake in Turkey’s No.1 game publishing company in order to gain first-mover advantages in the emerging economy with a growing online game market. CJ E&M Netmarble said Monday its holding company CJ Games has bought a 50% stake in Turkey’s Joygame.
Joygame is Turkey’s No.1 online game publisher that offers over 10 online games and mobile games. In collaboration with Joygame, CJ E&M Netmarble has been offering the online community dance game “Mstar” and the first person shooter (FPS) game “S2”, etc. in Turkey.
“Through this investment, we will ramp up our cooperation with our local partner to make inroads into other emerging economies near Turkey, “said Kim Hong-kyu, CEO of CJ Games.
The CEO of Joygame said, “The Turkish game market has been growing, on average, 50% annually. In particular, Korean games are very popular. From now on, Netmarble and CJ Games’ online and mobile games will be released in Turkey in a sustainable manner.”

CJ E&M 넷마블이 160억원을 투자해 터키의 1위 온라인 게임 퍼블리싱 기업 지분 50%를 확보했다. 온라인 게임 시장이 성장하는 신흥국가를 선점하기 위한 포석이다.
CJ E&M 넷마블(대표 조영기)은 게임개발 지주사인 CJ게임즈(대표 김홍규)가 터키 게임사 `조이게임`의 지분 50%를 확보했다고 25일 밝혔다.
조이게임은 터키 1위 온라인게임 퍼블리싱 업체다 10여종 이상의 온라인 게임과 웹〃모바일게임 등을 서비스하고 있다. 넷마블과 조이게임은 온라인 댄스게임 `엠스타`와 일인칭슈팅(FPS) 게임 `S2` 등을 터키에 서비스해왔다.
김홍규 CJ게임즈 대표는 “이번 투자로 사업적 협력을 강화해 온라인과 모바일 게임으로 터키를 비롯한 주변 신흥국가를 적극 공략해 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.
바리스 오지스텍 조이게임 대표는 “터키는 게임 시장이 매년 50% 이상 성장하고 있으며 한국 게임의 인기가 높다”며 “앞으로 넷마블과 CJ게임즈의 온라인•모바일 게임을 안정적으로 선보이게 됐다”고 말했다.
