SEOUL, KOREA - The smartphones made by Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are most expensive in Korea of all the countries where the devices are sold.
Consumers Korea, a consumer advocacy, conducted a survey about the prices of 60 products in 32 categories selling in major cities of 15 countries, including the United States, Japan, and China. It showed that the prices of 11 out of the 60 goods are highest in Korea than anywhere else.
Among the 11 products are smartphones (Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and LG G2), laptop computer (Samsung Ative Book 4), coffee makers (Miele CM 5100 and Delonghi ESAM 6700), processed meats (sirloin and pork belly domestically-raised), imported fruit (grapefruit), cream cheese (Laughing Cow), imported honey (Manuka honey UMF 20+ from New Zealand), and wine (Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon).
Consumers Korea said that the Galaxy Note 3, which is selling at a price of 1,067,000 won in Korea, is selling at 786,800 won in the UK and 847,000 won in the U.S.
