SEOUL, KOREA - Hyundai Rotem, a company manufacturing rolling stock, defense products, and plant equipment said on December 16 in a regulatory filing that it signed a deal worth 124.8 billion won with Companhia de Transportes de Salvador of Brazil to supply 112 rail cars and locomotives for the metro in the city of Salvador, Brazil's third largest city and the capital of the Northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia.

The order amount, according to the company, is equivalent to 4.01 percent of last year's consolidated sales revenue. Hyundai Rotem will begin building the rolling stock from next year and complete the delivery by June 2020.

Earlier in August this year, Hyundai Rotem had won a 450-billion-won order to deliver 240 rail cars to the Sao Paulo Department of Transit for its suburban metro lines. In November 2003, the company entered the Brazilian market by winning a deal to supply 24 rail cars for the Metro Line No. 1 for the city of Salvador.
