Techwing Begins Mass-production of Non-memory Test Handlers

SEOUL, KOREA - Techwing Inc., Korea's major semiconductor equipment manufacturer, said on December 18 that it began mass-producing test handlers for non-memory semiconductors. The test handler finds out defects in batches of semiconductor chips by testing their electrical characteristics.

 

The company has long been the world's No. 1 supplier in memory test handliers. This time around, it succeeded in producing test handlers for non-memory chips such as microprocessors. The market for non-memory test handlers is estimated at 500 billion won, about two to three times bigger than that for memory test handlers.

 

Shim Jae-gyun, president of Techwing, said, "We have finally reached the stage of mass-production after years of development effort for non-memory handlers. We will step up our marketing activities to sign up new customers." Last year the company posted 91 billion won in sales revenue and 11.9 billion won in operating profit.
