SEOUL, KOREA - SK C&C is trying to win a contract worth KRW 180 billion to establish an integrated system of managing water in Thailand. The company has made a consortium with the Korea Water Resources Corporation to take care of an IT-based water management system in the country.
According to the related industry on March 25th, the company has already won water-managing contracts with Indonesia and the Philippines. But the size of the Thai project is 25 times bigger than those of the two contracts.
After being selected as a final candidate for the Thai project, the consortium is drawing a detailed design for an integrated water-managing system and will submit it by May 3rd. The final winner will be announced around the end of May.
After obtaining the contract that will be the biggest in size in the field of IT-based water management, the company is planning to expand its water management business into the global market.
“We are also planning to participate in water supply and drainage management projects, not only in the IT-based water management business,” says a person from SK C&C.
SK C&C, 태국 물 관리IT사업 수주하고 해외 물관리사업 확대
SK C&C가 1800억원 규모의 태국 물 관리 통합시스템 구축 사업을 수주, 해외 물 관리 사업을 본격화한다. SK C&C는 12조4000억원 규모의 태국 물 관리 사업 중 IT부문에 수자원공사와 컨소시엄을 구성, 제안했다.
25일 관련업계에 따르면, SK C&C는 인도네시아, 필리핀에 이어 태국 물 관리 통합시스템 구축 사업 수주를 추진한다. 태국 물 관리 통합시스템 구축 사업 규모는 앞서 수주한 2개 사업을 합친 금액보다 25배 이상 크다.
태국 정부는 총 10개의 물 관리 사업 중 2개의 IT사업을 추진한다. SK C&C와 컨소시엄을 구성한 수자원공사는 지난 2월 전 사업부문 최종 후보자에 선정됐다. 이어 통합 물관리시스템 등에 설계제안을 진행했다. 최종 제안은 5월 3일로, 5월 말 사업자 선정이 이뤄질 전망이다.
IT사업에는 한국의 수자원공사·SK C&C를 비롯해 태국 현지 업체인 록슬리와 팀타이랜드, 중국의 ITD파워차이나가 경쟁하고 있다. 중국 기업하고는 경쟁력에서 차이가 있어 태국 기업과 2파전을 펼치는 것으로 전해진다.
SK C&C가 사업을 수주하면 국내 IT서비스업계 해외 수주실적으로는 손에 꼽히는 규모다. 물 관리 등 재난관리 IT사업으로는 최대다. 이를 기반으로 SK C&C는 해외 물 관리 사업을 확대할 계획이다. SK C&C 관계자는 “물 관리 IT사업 뿐 아니라 예측과 운영시스템 구축을 포함한 해외 상수도와 하수도 사업도 참여할 계획”이라고 말했다. 태국 하수도 사업과 베트남 상수도 사업 발굴을 준비하고 있다. 해외 물 관리 사업도 SK C&C의 `비욘드 IT` 전략 중 하나다.
