Kia Motors’ K Series Break 600,000 Sales Mark in China

SEOUL, KOREA - KiaMotors’ K series models are playing a key role in increasing the overall sales of Korean-made cars in China, which has grown into the world’s largest car market.

According to Kia Motors on December 23, the combined sales of its three models for China,consisting of compact sedan K2, semi mid-sized sedan K3, and mid-sized sedan K5, reached 622,942 units during the period from July 2011 when its K2 was released there, to last month.

The K2, in particular, achieved the strongest sales there. It was sold 333,047 units during the period, accounting for 53.5 percent in total sales, followed by K2 with 151,248 units and K5 with 138,204 units.

During the January-November period of this year, Kia Motors sold 498,888 units in China, of which the three K Series models accounted for 61.7 percent or 307,570 units. Kia Motors’ January-November sales have already exceeded last year’s total, mainly thanks to the strong sales of K Series models.
