Android OS Grabs 93.4% Share in Korea

Asmany as 19 out of 20 smartphones used in Korea are based on Android operatingsystem, according to a survey by U.S. market research firm Strategy Analytics.

Thesurvey looked at the “installed base” that refers to the number of smartphoneusers by operating system type, and the market share of operating systemin 88countries worldwide.Korea came on top among the countries in terms of marketshare of Android with 93.4 percent.

Thefigure is 25.9 percentage points higher than the world average estimated at67.5 percent. Even compared to the average of the Asia-Pacific region which hasthe highest operating systemmarket share among major regions, the Korean figureis 19.1 percentage points higher than that.

Amongthe surveyed countries, Korea was the only country to exceed the 90-percent levelin Android market share.Following Korea were Argentina with 82 percent, Chinawith 81.8 percent, India with 78.4 percent, and Iraq with 77.9 percent.
