SEOUL, KOREA - Wemade, a local online game development and service company, is planning to launch ‘Wemade Junior School’, a program to nurture talented students for online game development.
The online game company (represented by Kim Nam-cheol and Namgoong Hoon) signed an industrial-educational MOU with five specialized vocational high schools on March 27th.
Through ‘Wemade Junior School’, the company is going to provide online game-related education and work experience and to support relevant activities for outstanding students of the five schools.
Those students will be participating in a mentoring program with their mentors from the company to learn game development and computer graphic works. Those involved in the program will be given an opportunity to work for the company as an intern in the second half of the year as well.
“Sensitivity and ideas of talented teenagers with passion will be reflected on the actual game development or related business areas. Wemade employees will carry out various projects for those students to give them vivid work experiences and know-how,” says a person from Wemade.

위메이드엔터테인먼트(대표 김남철·남궁훈)는 27일 서울디지텍고등학교, 한국게임과학고등학교, 한국디지털미디어고등학교, 한국애니메이션고등학교, 정화여자상업고등학교와 산학협력 양해각서(MOU)를 교환했다.
위메이드 주니어스쿨은 다수 학교와 동시에 연간 협약을 맺고 교육부터 직업 체험까지 아우르는 프로그램이다. 실질적인 인재 양성, 직업 체험과 활동 지원 등 다양한 분야에서 인적·물적 교류를 확대한다는 취지다.
산학협력을 체결한 특성화고 학생들은 학교별 맞춤 설계에 따라 위메이드 멘토진과 개발 및 그래픽 분야의 멘토링 프로그램에 참여한다. 상반기 프로그램 참여 학생에게는 하반기 중 위메이드 고등학생 인턴으로 우선 채용 기회를 제공한다.
임지현 나눔경영실장은 “재능과 열정을 가진 10대의 감성과 아이디어를 실제 게임이나 사업 분야에 반영할 예정”이라며 “각 분야 전문가로 구성한 위메이드 임직원단이 학생들과 그룹별 프로젝트를 진행하고 생생한 현업 경험과 노하우 등을 공유하는 기회가 될 것”이라고 말했다.
박종백 한국애니메이션고등학교 컴퓨터게임제작과 부장은 “기존 산학협력 프로그램은 단발성인 경우가 많아 학생들이 실제적으로 참여할 기회가 많지 않았다”며 “장기 프로그램으로 현장형 실무 교육은 물론이고 채용까지 연계하니 기대가 크다”고 말했다.
