SEOUL, KOREA - The degree of Hyundai Motor’s brand recognition fell again in the United States, one of its core markets. A U.S. consumer magazine Consumer Report revealed on February 5 that Hyundai Motor slipped by four notches to No. 19 in its automobile brand recognition survey for 2014.

Among the 34 brand that were subject to the survey, Chrysler was the only brand that ranked below Hyundai Motor. This survey, started in December 2014, was conducted with 1,578 new car owners with respect to their opinions on the quality, safety, value, design, and technology of their cars.

The brand recognition of Hyundai Motor failed to improve over the past three years, with its rank falling to No. 19 this year from No. 15 in 2013 and No. 12 in 2012.

The position of Toyota, which grabbed No. 1 spot last year, remains unchanged this year. Other Japanese brands, including Honda (No. 3), Nissan (No. 14), and Lexus (No. 17), stayed ahead of Hyundai Motor.
