KIDP, strengthen support for export expansion of 'K-design'

SEOUL, KOREA - Lee Tae-yong, the president of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP) announced a plan to expand support for overseas expansion and to correct unfair contraction customs in the design industry to help vitalize 'K-design'.

"The beauty of simplicity and chastity is a strength of Korea when compared to other countries in Asia" Lee said. "We will promote a worldwide-recognized design industry by bringing out the best of our strength"

KIDP will make the best use of the competitiveness in the manufacturing business industry to expanding the export of its design industry.

Lee had served as chief director of the Korea Energy Management Corporation and he is expected to lead the idea of fusion between various kind of industry and design by making use of his career as a government official.

Lee will concentrate on expanding on the mutual interchange among large and mid-size companies. He is planning to help large and mid-size companies coexisting cooperation firms to participate with major Korean company like Samsung, LG in May.

KIDP will cooperate with government branches such as the National Commission for Corporate Partnership (NCCP) and the Small & Medium Business Corporation (SMBC).

"Most of the design projects ordered by major Korean companies has won over overseas design corporations", Lee said. "We can vitalize cooperation among large and mid-size companies after correcting unfair contraction customs in the design industry by introducing standard insurance contracts, an advance payment received system, and division order"

KIDP will also expand overseas. An export promoting base will be instituted in China, Thailand, and Vietnam.
