Samsung Dominates Global Android Smartphone Market

Seoul, Korea - As much as 65 percent of the Android smartphones in use worldwide are made by Samsung Electronics.According to market research firm Localytics which analyzes the data of 1.4 billion Android smartphones worldwide, Samsung Electronics grabbed a market share of 65 percent in the global Android smartphone market last month.

Among Samsung models, its high-end Galaxy S Series accounted for 30 percent of the total, including Galaxy S4 with 10 percent, Galaxy S3 with 15 percent, Galaxy S2 with 4 percent, and Galaxy S with 1 percent.

Localytics predicted that considering that the two-year contract period of Galaxy S4 is coming close at hand, the potential is high that the Galaxy S5 will obtain a substantial share in the global Android market within the next several months.

Following Samsung Electronics in terms of the Android smartphone market share were LG Electronics with 7 percent, HTC with 6 percent, Sony with 5 percent, and Motorola with 4 percent.
