GM’s Bupyeong Plant Passes 10 Mil. Mark in Cumulative Engine Output

SEOUL, KOREA - GM Korea announced on March 12 that its Bupyeong passed the 10-million level in cumulative engine production.This milestone is achieved in 28 years after the 1.5-liter gasoline engine was mounted first to the passenger vehicle Lemans in 1986.

 

On the same day, GM Korea held a special ceremony to celebrate its achievement, attended by about 300 executives and employees.

Sergio Rocha, president of GM Korea said in the ceremony, “The cumulative 10-million engine production at the Bupyeong factory proved the reliability of GM Korea’s production technology.He added, “The Bupyeong factory will continue to perform its role as one of Global GM’s production bases through optimization of production efficiency.”

At present, the Bupyeong plant is engaged in the production of ten engine types and two manual transmission models.On March 4, the plant’s cumulative manual transmission output passed the 7-million mark.
