The 2G Genesis, which was released in late 2013, was sold 11,079 units during the past three months, up 235 percent from a year ago.
Thanks to the strong new car effect, the Genesis became Hyundai Motor's fifth best-selling model in the passenger car/RV category, standing behind Grandeur, Avante, Sonata, and Santa Fe.
Renault Samsung's QM5, a facelift model released in early this year, is also showing an outstanding performance. Over the past three months, the QM5 Neo was sold 2,571 units, up 203 percent from a year ago. This growth rate is the second highest among domestic models, behind the Genesis.
Ssangyong Motor's Korando Sports also marked a robust growth of 42.9 percent in sales to 6,712 units in the first quarter of this year.
