SEOUL, KOREA - Kia Motors announced on April 14 that it has delivered its first production electric vehicle Soul EV to SK Innovation and held a commemorative ceremony.
On the same day, Kia Motors held a ceremony to celebrate the release of the Soul EV at the Aston House of Sheraton Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul and delivered its first production Soul EV to the SK Group company.
SK Innovation plans to continue to purchase Soul EVs to use them for business. The first production Soul EV will be donated to a social enterprise in Jeju Island through public offerings.
Kia Motors and SK Innovation formed a comprehensive agreement to promote the development and dissemination of electric vehicles in 2012 and have since continued to cooperate in this area. Soul EV is mounted with a 27-kWh lithium-ion battery developed by SK Innovation.
An SK Innovation official said, “With the beginning of the full-scale sales of Soul EV, we expect our battery business to gain a stronger growth momentum. Our mutual cooperation with Kia Motors would contribute to expanding the consumer base for electric vehicles in Korea.”
