ABC Mart Enjoys Four-fold Jump in April-May Sales

SEOUL, KOREA - ABC Mart, a shoe retail chain, announced on June 3 that its sales of summer sandals, including cork sandals, marked a remarkable growth last month. According to the company, the sales of cork sandals for the April-May period of this year marked a four-fold jump compared to a year ago.

 

Most of Birkenstock shoes, for example, which are a leading cork sandal brand, were sold out.

When it comes to ABC Mart’s own private label female shoe brand Nuovo, Bravoure 2 7 models were sold out after ABC Mart launched TV advertising.

An ABC Mart official said, “Thanks to the early beginning of hot summer weather, the sales of summer sandals shot up in May. In particular, the popularity of cork sandals and some highly advertised-brands are picking up, resulting in a shortage of supply.”

In the meantime, ABC Mart is staging a “2014 Ready for Summer” event until June 15. During the event period, the retailer will offer popular summer shoes at greatly discounted prices.
