GM Korea’s Domestic Sales Hit Highest Level Since 2004

SEOUL, KOREA - GM Korea announced on July 1 that its domestic sales reached 71,958 units in the first half of this year.This figure is up 10.4 percent year on year and the highest first-half results since 2004.

For the January-June period of this year, its overseas sales stood at 255,322 units, down 24.1 percent from a year ago.GM Korea’s first half sales totaled 327,280 units, down 18.5 percent year on year.

Even during the month of June, domestic sales were up but exports declined sharply. Domestic sales grew 19.4 percent to 12,132 units, showing an upward trend for 12 straight months. In contrast, exports fell 34.6 percent to 39,313 units.

AGM Korea official said, “Most of our vehicles enjoyed a sharp growth in domestic sales, including Malibu which marked a remarkable growth of 1,728 sales in June, up 126.5 percent from a year ago.”
