SEOUL, KOREA - Ssangyong Motor announced on July 14 that it would make forays into Central Asian markets by releasing Actyon in Kazakhstan on a complete knockdown basis. The compact sport utility vehicle will be available under the name of “Nomad” there.

The Nomad is a locally-customized strategic model that Ssangyong Motor developed to meet the demand and regional taste of Central Asia.  It will be assembled and produced at the Agromash Holdings plant in Kostanay, Kazakhstan. The production scale is 10,000 units a year.

Since 2003, Ssangyong Motor has exported its cars to the Central Asian country through the partnership with local automobile import and distribution company Allur Auto. Ssangyong Motor exported about 3,600 units of Actyon, New Korando C, Korando Sports, and Kyron last year.

A Ssangyong Motor official said, “We will take the CKD production of the Nomad in Kazakhstan as an opportunity to strengthen our presence not only in Kazakhstan but in neighboring countries.”
