SEOUL, KOREA - KT Group is utilizing ICT to change the existing education paradigm. And it is also carrying out various activities as a global social enterprise to narrow down education gaps underdeveloped countries are facing.
KT Innoedu, a KT affiliate specialized in education service, has developed a cloud-based ‘Smart Learning Platform (SLP)’ to provide a new model for an on/offline adult education.
SLP allows its users to download educational contents onto their smart gadgets disregarding the time and place and is equipped with real-time SNS and various social learning functions for active communications among learners.
Meanwhile, KT OIC, another KT affiliate that develops educational contents, is making a number of attempts to address imbalance in education home and abroad.
KT OIC is running a ‘SMARTree Learning Center’ in cooperation with Hwacheon County Office and the 7th Division of the Army for some 100 students in the county.
The educational contents developer has also provided ‘SMARTree English’ contents and learning devices to STEP foundation under UNWTO and a kids’ library of Tanzania.

KT그룹이 정보통신기술(ICT)을 활용해 기존 교육 패러다임을 바꾸고 있다. 저개발국가의 교육 격차 해소에도 앞장서는 등 글로벌 사회기업으로도 활발한 활동을 벌이고 있다.
지난해 9월 KT 계열사로 편입된 교육 전문기업 KT이노에듀는 국내 최초로 클라우드 기반 `스마트 러닝 플랫폼(SLP:Smart Learning Platform)`을 개발, 온·오프라인 성인교육의 새로운 모델을 제시했다.
SLP는 학습자가 시간과 장소에 관계없이 원하는 학습내용을 다양한 스마트기기를 통해 제공받을 수 있는 게 특징이다.
실시간 소셜네트워크서비스(SNS), 음성, 영상 등 다양한 소셜 러닝 기능도 탑재, 학습자 간 활발한 커뮤니케이션도 가능하다.
KT이노에듀는 1분기 KT&G와 풀무원, CJ그룹, 현대백화점그룹, 삼천리, SPC그룹 등 10여 개 기업에 `스마트 러닝 플랫폼`을 활용한 교육 서비스 계약을 완료했다.
KT이노에듀는 기업 교육 뿐만 아니라 성인 대상의 학점은행 서비스를 제공하고 학위과정과 사회복지사 2급, 보육교사 2급 등 자격증 과정도 운영하고 있다.
KT그룹 계열 교육 콘텐츠 전문개발업체 KT OIC는 `국내외 교육 불균등 해소를 위한 다양한 시도를 하고 있다.
KT OIC는 지난해 11월 강원도 화천군청, 육군 제7사단과 협력, 방과 후 스마트러닝이 가능한 `스마트리 러닝 센터`를 조성했다. 100여명의 화천군 지역 학생이 `스마트리 러닝센터`를 이용 중이다.
KT OIC는 글로벌 교육 격차 해소 모범 사례로 평가받고 있다.
KT OIC는 국제연합 세계관광기구(UNWTO) 산하조직(STEP재단)과 탄자니아의 국립박물관 내 어린이 도서관에 `스마트리 잉글리쉬` 콘텐츠와 학습기기를 기부, 영어교육 혜택을 받을 수 있게했다. `스마트리 잉글리쉬`는 베트남이 오는 2020년까지 추진하는 교육 혁신 프로젝트의 콘텐츠로 채택됐다
KT그룹 관계자는 “다른 분야와 마찬가지로 교육과 ICT 간 융합이 가속화되고 있다”며 “KT그룹 교육 계열사는 양질의 콘텐츠와 서비스를 바탕으로 ICT를 선제적으로 접목, 차원이 다른 교육 패러다임을 제시하는 견인차 역할을 할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
