SEOUL, KOREA - Naver’s global dictionary service “LineDictionary” is gaining popularity in overseas markets after the global hits of its two services Lineand Band.
According to Naver on July 22, LineDictionary ranked No. 1 in the education category and No. 2 in the free popular app category in Indonesia. These outstanding achievements came in less than one month after the service was launched there.
Since the early days of business, Naver has invested 12 billion won per year to develop dictionary and encyclopedia services, aimed at developing them into one of its main business lines.
At present, Naver’s mobile dictionary is enjoying a rising popularity with its monthly page views estimated at around 300 million.
Naver released an “Indonesian-English” dictionary last month, the first attempt to target the global market. This dictionary is mounted with Naver’s in-house text-to-speech feature. To enrich the contents of its dictionary, Naver also joined hands with Besta, a specialist in dictionary production.
