SEOUL,KOREA - A government project for local environmental businesses to enter overseas markets has just started. The Ministry of Environment is checking if local environmental businesses could move into Northern Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Easter Europe for the markets of taking care of waste water, air pollution and waste materials.
The Ministry and Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute announced on April 10th that they closed applications of companies that would like to participate in a private & public group that would see market feasibility of three Northern African nations such as Algeria, Morocco and Libya.
The Institutes is going to select some ten final companies to form a private & public group to find new markets in those nations mentioned above.
Those three Northern African nations are expected to create new environment-related business opportunities as they are planning to improve their national infrastructures and to establish new environmental facilities.
Starting the Northern African nations, the Institute is planning to dispatch another group to find new markets in Asia (in July), the Middle East (in September), Latin America (in October) and Eastern Europe (in November) as well.

올해 환경산업 해외진출을 위한 시장개척단 사업이 신호탄을 쏘아 올렸다. 환경부는 북아프리카·아시아·중동·중남미·동유럽 지역을 대상으로 수처리·대기환경·폐기물 분야의 국내 기업 진출을 타진한다.
환경부와 한국환경산업기술원은 알제리, 모로코, 리비아 3개국 시장 개척을 위한 북아프리카 환경시장개척단 참가기업 모집을 10일 마감했다고 밝혔다.
환경산업기술원은 신청기업 대상으로 10여개의 최종 참가기업을 선정한 후 6월 민관합동 시장개척단을 구성, 파견할 계획이다.
파견 지역인 북아프리카 3개국은 최근 국가 인프라 개보수 사업과 함께 환경관련 법안 개정 등의 이슈로 환경설비 사업 신규 발주가 예상되는 곳이다.
알제리는 19개 하수처리장 재건축 등 다수의 수처리 사업이 발주를 예고하고 있고 모로코는 `2030 물관리 정책` 등으로 대규모 상수도 프로젝트가 사업자를 기다리고 있다. 물 부족 국가인 리비아 역시 지속적인 수자원 확보를 위해 노력하고 있으며 지난해 신규 정부 이후 다수의 상하수도 사업 발주를 준비 중이다.
특히 알제리와 모로코는 지난해 `물 시장 개척단`에 이은 연이은 시장개척단 파견이다. 기술원은 시장수요조사 결과 알제리와 모로코의 환경산업 수요가 수처리와 대기질 개선을 중심으로 높아지고 있어 이번 개척단 파견에서도 성과가 있을 것으로 예상하고 있다.
기술원은 북아프리카 시장개척단 파견을 시작으로 아시아(7월)·중동(9월)·중남미(10월)·중동부유럽(11월)에도 시장개척단을 파견할 예정이다.
