Doosan Infracore's Bobcat Opens New R&D Center in North Dakota

SEOUL, KOREA - Doosan Infracore, the company that has languished financially until last year, is making a leap of late. Following an announcement of excellent financial results for two consecutive quarters this year, the company is building R&D centers in locations such as Incheon, Yantai (China), and this time in Bismarck (North Dakota), in the United States.
 
Bobcat Co. the U.S. unit of Doosan Infracore specializing in small-sized construction equipment, said on August 7 that it has completed the construction of the "Acceleration Center" in Bismarck. The center, built at the cost of US$28 million on a 18,000-square-meter site, will be in charge of new product development and innovation. Equipped with state-of-the-art test equipment and software, the center can conduct computer simulation test as well as pilot product design.
 
Earlier on July 30, Doosan Infracore held an opening ceremony of a global R&D center in Incheon. With this, the company can have a total of three new design centers for the past two years.
 
In the second quarter of this year, Doosan Infracore posted sales revenue of 2,113.3 billion won, down 3.1 percent from the same period last year. But its operating profit increased 20.0 percent to 145.5 billion won during the same period. Of this, the contribution of Bobcat was 61 percent.
