SEOUL, KOREA - Shinsegae-Simon Busan Premium Outlet, the first luxury outlet open among metropolitan cities except Seoul, has surpassed the 6-million visitor number within one year after opening. Given the combined population of 7.6 million in Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang Province, it is equivalent to every one of the residents nearby visiting the outlet for the past one year. It is also a much higher annual visitor number than those recorded by other Shinsegae-Simon stores in Yeoju and Paju.
The Busan Premium Outlet has been loved by the shoppers as it hosts 180 international and domestic brands such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Armani, and Masstige. According to the company's own data analysis results for the past one year, as many as 69 percent of the visitors were in their age between 31 and 40. Of the total visitors, 78 percent were women. By region, those visitors from Busan accounted for the largest portion of 60 percent, followed by Ulsan (15%), South Gyeongsang (8%), South Chungcheong Province (6%), and Daegu (4%).
The top-ten stores at the Busan Premium Outlet were Nike, The North Face, Daks, Bean Pole, Adidas, Kolon Sports, Coach, K2, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Hazzys. Shinsegae-Simon is a joint venture between Korean retail giant Shinsegae and the U.S.-based Simon Property Group. It is currently running three outlets including Yeoju, Paju, and Gijang near Busan.
