2014 Scientific Symposium of Korea Institute of Information & Telecommunication Facilities Engineering was held for 3 days from August 28 (Thursday) to August 30 (Saturday) at O2 Resort of Taebaek, Gangwon-do.
At this scientific symposium sponsored by Korea Institute of Information & Telecommunication Facilities Engineering (Oh Sung-mok, the Chairman) and superintended by KT, Samsung Electronics, Erikson Electronics, and SK telecom, the concerned parties of ICT field from universities, research institutes, and business quarters deliberate over the integration of the global ICT technologies with other related techniques to create new regime of value system, to improve life styles, and in turn to change societal structure into future‐oriented one in the futuristic point of view.
This symposium which was supported by the Korea IT Times was held as a thorough preparation from the national dimension to cope with the increased influence of ICT on the society and economy together with the heightened expectation for its role since the acceleration of telecommunication infrastructure and the construction of smart IoT infrastructure for the super‐networking age where all people and things are connected with network were urgently needed especially as the explosive increase of the users and data capacity of internet and telecommunication by the expansion of smart device distribution caused the saturation and bottleneck state of networking.
Hereupon Korea Institute of Information & Telecommunication Facilities Engineering opened this symposium starting with a panel discussion with the topic of constructing a safety network of society focused on the confrontation against disaster followed by 12 sessions plus 1 post session in total on the 28th for 3 days.
Oh Sung-mok, the Chairman of Korea Institute of Information & Telecommunication Facilities Engineering began the symposium with his opening speech, and after this the Chairman Yang Seung-taek of IST, also the former minister of Ministry of Information and Communication, along with Choi Heung-jib, the former Chairman of Gangwon Land gave their congratulatory address.
Particularly the special lecture given by Chairman Cho Sung-gab of Korea Information Processing Society on “Information Communication of Material Intelligence” had great influence on many members and the audience together with the special sessions on “The Policy Trend of Frequency according to the Development of Broadcasting Telecommunication” by the representative researcher, Kim Chang-joo,
“EOC Platform at General Disaster Prevention Center and E-Disaster Control System” by Professor Park Hyung-joo of Gachun University, “The Propriety of the Construction of Safety Communication Network against Disaster based on LTE and the Task to be Done Hereafter” by an assistant researcher, Kim Sa-hyuk.
The topics of the 12 sessions are: ▲Session 1 ‐ Information Telecommunication System by Cable Communication Facilities ▲Session 2 ‐ Other Information Telecommunication Techniques ▲Session 3 ‐ IT Combined Techniques ▲Session 4 ‐ IT Combined Techniques by Wireless Communication Facilities ▲Session 5 ‐ IT Combined Techniques ▲Session 6 ‐ Application of Control System ▲Session 7 ‐ Information Telecommunication Policy ▲Session 8 ‐ Wireless Communication Facilities ▲Session 9 ‐ Other Information Telecommunication Techniques by Wireless Communication Facilities
▲Session 10 ‐ Other Information Telecommunication Techniques by Wireless Communication Facilities ▲Session 11 ‐ Other Information Telecommunication Techniques ▲Session 12 ‐ Wireless Communication Facilities ▲Post Session ‐ IT Combined Techniques. It was a scientific symposium made up by over 200 industrial・academic concerned parties with information telecommunication along with over 100 treatises.
Korea Institute of Information & Telecommunication Facilities Engineering was founded in 2001 and contributes to the development of nation’s information telecommunication industry grounded upon its purport to achieve the establishment of academic and theoretical system and the generalization of the realized techniques through the researches and development of industrial・academic sectors on the Korean information telecommunication equipment and facilities.
