SEOUL, KOREA – KDB Daewoo Securities said Thursday it has acquired an additional 41.65% stake in Indonesia’s largest online securities firm eTrading Securities, thereby sending its total stake in eTrading Securities to 80%.
Leveraging its financial expertise accumulated in the domestic market, KDB Daewoo Securities plans to nurture eTrading Securities into one of Indonesia’s leading total securities firms. KDB Daewoo Securities will secure local blue-chip companies as its customers, support Korean companies’ M&As and offer a wide range of financial services including real estate project financing.
Founded in 2002, eTrading Securities, devoted to online sales, has maintained the No.1 spot with a 20% share in the online trading market. In collaboration with KDB Daewoo Securities, it introduced HTS (Home Trading System) for the first time in Indonesia. With the recent acquisition, KDB Daewoo Securities now has a total of 10 overseas units including six subsidiaries in Hong Kong, London, New York, Singapore and Beijing and local offices in Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh.

KDB대우증권, 인도네시아 이트레이딩증권 인수
KDB대우증권(대표 김기범)은 18일 인도네시아 최대 온라인 증권사 이트레이딩(eTrading)증권 지분 41.65%를 인수했다고 밝혔다. 이날 KDB대우증권은 이트레이딩증권 지분 41.65%를 인수해 기존 38.35%였던 지분율을 80%까지 확대했다.
KDB대우증권은 한국형 금융 노하우를 바탕으로 이트레이딩증권 사업부문을 확대해 인도네시아 선두권 종합 증권사로 도약시킬 계획이다. 또 인도네시아 우량 기업을 고객으로 확보하고 현지 진출 한국기업의 인수합병(M&A) 지원, 부동산 프로젝트파이낸싱 등 다양한 금융서비스도 제공할 예정이다.
2002년 설립된 이트레이딩증권은 온라인 영업에 집중하며 온라인 시장점유율 1위(20%)를 차지하고 있으며 KDB대우증권과 협력해 업계 최초로 HTS를 도입하는 등 시장을 선도하고 있다. KDB대우증권은 이번 인수로 홍콩을 비롯해 런던, 뉴욕, 싱가포르, 베이징 등 6개 해외 현지법인과 도쿄, 베이징, 상하이, 호찌민사무소 등 총 10개 해외 네트워크를 보유하게 됐다.
김기범 KDB대우증권 사장은 “이번 인수는 인도네시아 현지 시장 영업 강화는 물론이고 홍콩을 중심으로 아시아시장 네트워크를 확대했다는 큰 의미를 담고 있다”며 “국내시장의 과당경쟁과 시장침체로 증권사가 어려움을 겪고 있는 상황에서 해외 금융영토 확장은 새 금융수요를 창출하고 성장 동력을 확보하는 좋은 계기가 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.
