SEOUL, KOREA – Samsung Electronics said Wednesday that the Smart TV Evolution Kit, designed to evolve 2012 smart TV models to the latest 2013 versions by adding hardware and software enhancements, has been certified by the US’s UL (Underwriters Laboratories) and the UK’s Intertek.
Both UL and Intertek comprehensively evaluated the Samsung Smart TV Evolution Kit in the aspects of hardware, the performance of the Smart Hub user interface, input systems, various features, etc.
The Smart TV Evolution Kit will plug into the back of compatible Samsung Smart TVs and replace Samsung smart TVs’ 2012 user interface with an entirely redesigned 2013 version by adding a number of hardware and software enhancements including CPU, memory and GPU upgrades, plus enhanced voice / motion control features.
Lee Hyo-gun from Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Division said, “Since the Smart TV Evolution Kit’s performance has been officially certified by leading accreditors, consumers’ faith in Samsung products will build up. Samsung’s technologies for peripherals, as well as smart TVs, have been globally recognized.”

삼성전자 스마트TV `에볼루션 키트`, 해외 기관서 잇따라 인증 받아
삼성전자는 스마트TV 성능을 높여주는 `에볼루션 키트`가 해외 인증기관인 미국 UL과 영국 인터텍으로부터 성능 인증을 받았다고 8일 밝혔다.
UL과 인터텍은 에볼루션 키트의 하드웨어, 스마트허브 유저인터페이스(UI)의 성능, 입력장치•기능 등을 종합 평가했다.
에볼루션 키트는 2012년형 TV 뒷면에 꽂으면 중앙처리장치(CPU), 그래픽처리장치(GPU), 메모리 등 하드웨어와 소프트웨어 성능을 최신 스마트TV 수준으로 높여준다.
이효건 삼성전자 영상디스플레이사업부 전무는 “대표적인 인증기관에서 성능을 인정받아 소비자 신뢰 제고에 큰 도움이 될 것”이라며 “스마트TV에 이어 주변기기에서도 기술력을 인정받은 것”이라고 말했다.
